Experience Ames in this unique, behind-the-scenes tour that transforms familiar streets into living history, allowing participants to step inside vintage homes, heritage businesses, restored civic buildings and sacred spaces in Ames' Main Street and Old Town historic districts. Each location offers a new perspective on Ames' evolution, architecture, and community life. Start at any building to join the free self-guided tour and pick up a brochure with map. Volunteers will be stationed at each location to answer questions.
